Now to our "favorite products of 2011":

Let's start with skin care-

1. For cleanser's I've fallen in love with the Yes to line of products. Their Yes to Cucumber daily cleanser ROCKS! I'll follow that up with using their Yes to Tomatoes Pore Scrub 1-2 times a week to help with exfoliation.
2. I also like C.O.Bigelow Vitamin boost cream cleanser. This one's pretty good at removing all my makeup, even mascara :)
3. Now for the late nights when I get too lazy to wash my face, which never happens to me by the way, I love Korres's Milk Proteins makeup removing wipes. These wipe off everything and don't leave any of that cleanser residue feel to the skin.
4. Now for all of you that know me, you have heard me talk about vitamin E oil. I've been using this for years. I lather my face every night, especially my lashes. I get the strongest dose of pure vitamin E that I can find. So far Jason makes one that I get from HEB that has the most Vitamin E (32,000 I.U.)
5. My favorite eye cream is Christian Dior's Hydra Life. This is a miracle cream.
6. There are so many face primers out there, Smashbox, Make Up For Ever, MAC, Korres, Too Faced, etc. Many do a great job. My favorite so far is Benefit's- The Porefessional. I find this one to conceal my pores best and leaves my skin with the smoothest texture.
7. For Face Moisturizer, DDF makes a great Ultra light moisturizer for those prone to oily skin and Korres makes a Quercetin & Oak Anti-Ageing and Anti-Wrinkle day time moisturizer good for combination to dry skin.

Now to the makeup, starting with your skin-

1. Smashbox- Studio Skin 15 hour wear Hydrating Foundation
2. Koress- Wild Rose long lasting/brightening foundation, this is nice and build able. Can be worn alone or set with a powder.
3. Kett- Hydro foundation- this can be used directly through an airbrush gun or with a foundation brush
4. Lancome- Effacernes Waterproof Concealer. This works as an eye primer as well as great under-eye coverage. This has worked for all skin types, young or mature.
5. Smashbox- Halo powder. These will leave your skin looking so smooth and gives you the hydration your skin thirsts for with out giving you any shine!
6. Smashbox- Photo set finishing powder, Make Up For Ever- HD Powder and Kett- setting powder are all great setting powders that don't change the wear or color of your makeup, just smooth out the skin texture and take away the shine.

For the eye's, lips and cheeks-

1. There are too many shadow's to list, but they're all amazing.
2. Make Up For Ever- aqua eye's pencils are fabulous. They're waterproof and glide on like silk.
3. I have 2 favorite mascara's that so far, no one has been able to persuade me from, Christian Dior- DIORSHOW and MAC- Opulash. Both build great volume, add amazing lift/curl and stay put. They do not smudge!!!
4. MAC- pro long lip cremes- these stay on all day and don't dry out the lips.
5. I'm always on the look out for long wearing products since Houston is so hot & humid, but I do Love MAC- Viva Glam V lipstick. It's a lustre so for most it won't stay on long, but it's a gorgeous color and every client I use it on asks me about it. Plus, all the proceeds from Viva Glam sales go to the MAC Aids Foundation.
6. I'm not a big fan of using lip liner's that often but when I do, it's either MAC- creamstick liner, Make Up For Ever- Agua Lips, or Smashbox- Limitless lip stain and color seal
7. For blush, I always contour first. May absolute favorite bronzer is Smashbox- Halo Bronzing powder, there is no shimmer in this so it gives a perfect tan glow and no shimmer causing the skin to look oily. I also really like Estee Lauder- Bronze Goddess Duo Bronzer. For blush color, it's like shadow, they all make great products so you can't really go wrong on the purchase, just on the application :)

2012 Starts with a bang!

What a great year we had 2011. We are looking forward to what 2012 has in store for us at My Make-Up Rocks. We are so happy to announce we had a 60% increase from 2010!!!! Our staff has doubled and we are looking to build some more.

Favorite products of the Month!

My Make-Up Rocks works very hard at finding the best products for our clients and for Houston Weather which can be very difficult. We are happy to share our new favorites we found during the month of September.

MAC Cosmetics came out with a new line of long wear products, we absolutely LOVE them! We've already tried them all out and have used them on several clients and got great feedback. If you haven't already, stop by the nearest MAC counter or store and try their new Pro long wear concealer, Pro long wear foundation and Pro long wear lip creme. They are fabulous!

Is the humidity in Houston making your hair flat? Do you want a little extra volume boost, but don't have time to shampoo & blow-dry all over again? Try Bumble and Bumble's hair powder. This will absorb the oils in the hair and give your roots that extra lift with a quick spritz. It also comes in different shades for different hair colors.

What a BUSy Weekend we had!

It has been a while since My Make-Up Rocks last post. We have been very busy bee's. With the nice weather change, we figured we can start a new change with our blogging and keep it updated with all the goodies we've been up to.

This past week, we started off the week at a photo shoot/video taping with Imaging Studios and a beautiful couple who's been married 22 years and are so in LOVE they wanted to take pictures and video tape their session. It was absolutely amazing getting to know this couple and getting to know how they keep the LOVE strong and alive in their marriage.

On Wednesday we did a clients hair and make-up at the fabulous Butler's Courtyard for her bridal portraits and had another photo shoot at Imaging Studios for Cody's Senior Pictures. This was a lot of fun, we did about 5 look changes, around 8 outfits and many backgrounds/scenery's.

Thursday, we started the day with some tanning clients, then ended it with another photo shoot at Imaging Studios. This time it was for a Halloween Boudoir Svelte Soirees Session. This was too fun. We had 3 models and their costumes ROCKED! Look for the photo's in Change Magazine in October or find it on our Facebook fan page!

Saturday, what a busy day! We were all over Houston. We had Cynthia's Wedding in Pearland at Golfcrest Country Club, Crystal's Wedding in Galveston, Abbie's wedding in Conroe at Bentwater Yacht Club, Amy's Wedding in Sugarland at Signature Manor, a photo shoot at Hotel Zaza with Michelle at Tresor Photography and a client for her High School reunion.

We finished off our week on Sunday at Oakwind for Christina's wedding. It was a great end to a great week. We have lots more to come this week, but wont wait to post it at once. WOW! What a great week we had!

My Make-Up Rocks had a Rockin week last week!

We started off our week with a photo shoot with Pam Francis Studios, Pinto Ranch western wear and Cowboys and Indians Magazine. Had a consultation with a bride that booked us 2 hours after meeting with us. Thank you iCatching for the referral and we want to welcome Stephanie to our team. Her wedding will be at The Admiral on Clear Lake.

We had several consults through out the week, tanning sessions, a great meeting with Jennifer from Premier Bride and Bradit Bandits. Another great meeting with Untangled Hair salon in Seabrook. Then we had our first Open House for July on Friday at Tad Aker's in League City.

Friday night we got to do the makeup for one of My Make-Up Rocks clients "Roxxi Jane" for her cd release party at the Drake for the album "Everybody Loves Pink". On Saturday we had the pleasure of doing makeup for a new Lash Extension company coming out that will be Houston based and by far the best. They are putting together all their marketing and national campaign materials so once it goes live, we'll let you know so you can see the work and how great they are.

We finished off our week with two open houses on Sunday. One at Butler's Courtyard in League City and the other at Oakwind Bed & Breakfast in Alvin. We met with so many wonderful brides and already have had several call and email to book appointments.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful vendors we've mentioned above, to all of our clients and friends that send us so many great clients. We couldn't do it with out all of your support. We love you all and will send you updates for weekly faves and upcoming events.

Great, but Crazy day!

My Make-Up Rocks started off the day with some tanning clients and then headed to Butler's Courtyard to do the hair and make-up for our lovely client Kelly's wedding.

Unfortunately, the hairstylists scheduled ended up getting food poisoning so several of us came in to help finish a party of 8 people she was scheduled with. So how much does Candi ROCK? Even though she was sick, she still showed up to take care of the Bride since she did all of her portrait sessions, cut, color and extensions.

My Make-Up Rocks will go above and beyond to make our clients happy, even when we are on our death beds sick! Thanks Candi for being there to take care of the bride, you are a ROCK STAR!

We are finishing the day with a few more tanning sessions and then will start a new day tomorrow with back to back weddings. Our first wedding will be at The Hidden Palms with our Bride Leanne and her bridal party of 6.

Our next wedding will be at Centurion Palace for our Bride Tricia and her bridal party of 6. We will finish the day with a client consult and then we are off until Monday! :D

Bad weather, but good times!

My Make-Up Rocks is having a great week despite the bad weather.

The phone calls and emails from clients are pouring in with the rain, we've booked several clients already and it's only Wednesday. We had another photo shoot with Tracy Hicks Photography for a real estate agent and then did the makeup for model Iveth Lee Diaz for Rod Ryan's July Hottie Posse from 94.5 the Buzz (See pic bellow).

We are still in the process of interviewing for more Hairstylists, Make-Up Artists and Administrative assistants to add to our team. We need to find that perfect fit. If you know of anyone, please have them email us or give us a call.

Today, we did the make-up for a clients bridal portraits at the Paraiso Maravilla. Very beautiful facility if you have not seen it already. Tomorrow we have another day of interviews and portrait sessions, then on Friday we are shooting a commercial shoot with Pam Francis Photography. This shoot is for a new grocery store called Fresh. It's being added to Brookshires grocery store chain. It will be awesome, comparable to Whole foods and Central Market.

What a GREAT Week!

My Make-Up Rocks started of our week with a bridal consult that booked 2 hours after meeting with us. Thank you to Kimberly at iCatching Events for the referral. iCatching Events/ The Admiral on Clear Lake gives us much love and support!

We had an amazing photo shoot with Pam Francis Photography for Pinto Ranch Western Wear for their ad that will be in the Cowboys and Indians Magazine, October issue. It will hit news stands in August, so keep a look out for it.

Yesterday, we had a great meeting with Jennifer from Premier Bride and Brandit Bandits Marketing. Then we finished off the day with some airbrush tanning clients. Today we have more tanning clients and a makeup lesson for a new client.

We have so much more going on for the rest of the week that it's too much to right about, you'll just have to check back with us to see what else we have going on at My Make-Up Rocks!

My Make-Up Rocks Busy Week!

My Make-Up Rocks is having such a busy but great week. We have been doing interviews for new staffing for our administrative side as well as artistry side.

We did a tanning session for one of our own makeup artists who left for Aruba to get married. We LOVE you Kristin! We had a fabulous bridal portrait session with a wonderful bride referred by Personal Stylist Jenny Rizzuto. We also did an amazing photo shoot with photographer Tracy Hicks for a client who's doing fitness modeling.

Today, we are off to do a wedding at The Hotel Galvez in Galveston for our wonderful bride Madeline Wade and her bridal party.

Specials and Weekly Faves!

JUNE SPECIAL-

• Book a Wedding of 5 or more and mother of the Bride or Groom is Complimentary!
• Book a Tanning Party and get a complimentary tanning session.

Favorite Product(s) & Tip(s) of the week:

• For Color treated hair, try Yes To Cucumber shampoo & conditioner. This adds great shine and repairs the hair back to great condition. Tip- Leave the conditioner in for 5+ minutes.
• For a great do-it-yourself tan, but don't have time to go to the tanning salon or airbrush specialist, try Sally Hansen's Airbrush Legs. It's water resistant and comes in different shades. Tip- Use a large buffer brush for an even spread.

Favorite Product and tip of the week!

So, we've all been on the prowl for that perfect bronzer, and I finally found it. Smashbox has a bronzer from their Halo collection. It's the Halo Hydrating Perfecting Bronzer. It's absolutely fabulous. It's matte, so no shimmer and it has a perfect brown tone, not orange or red. I absolutely love it, you have to try it.

Tip: When using bronzer, it is meant to give the skin a sun kissed look, so it is not to be applied all over. You are only suppose to apply it on the cheeks (to accentuate the cheekbones apply it just bellow the bone and slightly on the lower bone structure), through the hair line of the forehead and you can contour the nose and jaw as well.

To contour the nose, if you want to make it look thinner, then you would apply it to the sides of the bridge of your nose. To contour your jaw, you apply it from the bottom of the ear lobe, down the under side of the jaw line and at the chin, you apply it just bellow.

Try using a contour blush brush. These will have a good angle to them and aren't too fluffy. MAC has one, the #168, and it works awesome.

Tans ROCK!

We have been getting very busy with our airbrush tanning sessions. Summer is approaching and everyone is in the mood to be a BRONZE GODDESS!

With our tanning solutions, your tan can last you anywhere from 7-14 days, it all depends on how well you take care of it. We researched products for 2 years before making our decision on what to use and we are so happy we waited for the best. Fantasy tan offers the best color variety, has the longest wear and has the fastest drying time. You can see the results on Dancing with the Stars, Real Housewives and many other magazines and T.V. shows.

Autism Awareness!

April is now the National Autism awareness Month. We want to help fight for a cure for Autism. For the month of April, 10% of all proceeds will go to Autism Speaks! The CDC has new statistics that show 1 in 110 children have autistic symptoms, 1 in 70 of those are boys. To find out more on Autism visit Autism Speaks website.
